Rail Sector Report 2023
In its 9th sector report on the rail sector, entitled “Time to GO: Finally competing on the basis of quality!”, the Monopolies Commission sets out recommendations for strengthening competition in the rail market. Problems are evident not least in the serious quality shortcomings across the entire infrastructure and the numerous delays and train cancellations. The planned establishment of a public-interest infrastructure company could be a sensible component of a comprehensive reform package.
It is high time for ambitious reforms.
