2011 Rail Sector Report
A detailed analysis of the German railway sector shows that competition in the passenger and freight transport markets continues to develop only slowly and that significant competitive shortcomings remain. The Monopolies Commission notes that there have been hardly any significant improvements in competitive conditions on the rail markets in recent years and believes that policy-makers are now under pressure to act.
The government must finally take decisive action to create stable and fair conditions for competition. This will benefit consumers in particular.
