2019 Energy Sector Report
In its 7th Sector Report on Energy, the Monopolies Commission draws attention to competition issues associated with the energy transition. The Monopoly Commission therefore proposes measures to ensure effective ‘competition in the new energy sector’: attracting several providers to develop the charging infrastructure, making sufficient land available for wind energy, and making adjustments to price supervision in the wholesale electricity market.
We see competition issues both in tenders for wind energy and in the roll-out of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, which jeopardise the success of the energy transition.
