On 9 July 2026, the Monopolies Commission will present its 26th main report, ‘Competition 2026: Towards a Competition-Oriented Economic Policy’, to Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche.
Germany is debating industrial policy – vociferously, urgently, and with billions at stake. The report seeks answers to the question of what measures the German economy needs to remain competitive:
- What does the development of the 100 largest companies reveal about the state of German industry?
- How can industrial policy – from the burden of electricity prices to the promotion of strategic technologies – strengthen competition?
- Why is the AI transformation failing to live up to its potential, and how can we accelerate the process?
- How can competition law be made more effective, for example in relation to the fuel sector, the defence industry and within the framework of the 12th amendment to the Act against Restraints of Competition (GWB)?
We look forward to your interest.
